Dr. George Paletta is a nationally and internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, especially shoulder and elbow problems in throwing athletes.

He completed his medical degree at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, his orthopedic residency at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery, and three fellowships, including at Hospital for Special Surgery (sports medicine research), Cleveland Clinic (adult sports medicine) and Children’s Hospital of Michigan (pediatric sports medicine). His professional career includes academic and private practice. He is currently the Head Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is a Board Certified Orthopedic surgeon who, since 1996, has served as Associate Team Physician for the New York Mets, Assistant Team Physician and Head Team Physician/Medical Director for the St. Louis Rams, Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery–Chief Sports Medicine Service at Washington University School of Medicine, and Head Team Physician and Medical Director for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Dr. Paletta is a graduate of The College of Holy Cross and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is a Sports Medicine Research Fellow at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Dr. Paletta is a part of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. he is also a member of the Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Fellowship Program of the Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

Dr. Paletta also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Paletta is an American Board of Orthopedic Surgery Diplomat, and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association, Mid-America Orthopedic Association, Missouri State Orthopedic Association, and the St. Louis Orthopedic Society.
